COLD PLUNGE POOL MAINTENANCE

The common misconception about cold plunge baths is that because the water is so cold it doesn’t promote bacteria growth. This is not true, so three things must be present in the cold tub system: circulation, filtration and sanitation. Our cold plunge tanks and tubs use all three married together to provide cleaner water and a more pleasant bathing experience. First, our system uses a 950 gallon per hour circulation pump designed for continuous use. To maintain, simply make sure there are no leaks and no abnormal noises from the pump. Water should be circulating around the inside of the tub so make sure there are no obstructions around the intake or output holes. Once a year, it’s a good idea to check the pump for internal debris which can impede the impeller. The second thing is filtration. The unit is provided with a particle/oil removal type filter cartridge, and this should be changed once or twice a year, depending on use. This will pull any dirt and particles out of the water stream. The filter tends to slow the flow and prohibit cooling if not changed regularly. The last thing is sanitation. Dirt and oils from our skin and the bottoms of our feet get into the tub with us, so it is highly recommended to introduce chemicals to help the water to remain sanitary. The solution here is bromine tablets tossed into the tub and allowed to dissolve over time. This will prohibit the growth of algae as well as killing bacteria harmful to us. The last thing is simply emptying the tub every 3 to 4 months, again depending on use, and refilling with fresh water. The chiller is virtually maintenance free, and a slight buzzing noise coming from it is simply the compressor inside doing it’s job. Our units are easy to maintain, and if you follow these guidelines, should provide you and your family with years of enjoyment. If, however, there is something wrong with the system beyond your capabilities to remedy, our staff is available to help with additional service. Often times one’s swimming pool service company is contracted to attend to the tub components.

HOT TUB MAINTENANCE

Hot tub maintenance is easy to do, but needs to be done on a somewhat structured timeline. Depending on usage, about every two weeks bromine tablets should be added to the water to stave off bacterial aggression. Water should be changed monthly, and the filter changed every three months. Water test kits can be purchased at a pool supply store, and individual preferences can be achieved through monitoring levels in your bath. The optimal temperature is subjective, but normally around 102-104 degrees fahrenheit. Salt water generators are also an option, but again, a personal choice. They are easy to install, and monitor salt consumption and addition rates. This is for consumers who don’t want the “chlorine smell“ associated to most hot tubs, yet enjoying the benefits of sterilization of the bath. Our units are easy to maintain, and if you follow these guidelines, should provide you and your family years of enjoyment. If, however, there is something wrong with the system beyond your capabilities to remedy, our staff is available to help with additional service. SAUNA OPERATION

Operation of the sauna is simple. The controller is timed at one hour, so pre-heating the sauna is recommended for at least the one hours’ time. At the hour mark, the sauna should be close to preferred temperature, so at that time, the timer should be reset by starting it again. This will give an hour of enjoyment in a 180 or so degree environment. If the wireless option is used, an app from Harvia should be downloaded as per the instructions. Then the sauna can be started and temperature regulated by a smart phone or tablet. If any other instructions are required, please refer to the manual supplied with the unit or contact our office for help. Our saunas are virtually no maintenance, requiring a wipe down of the seating and back surfaces with a mild cleaner and cloth.  The cedar wood surfaces are treated and are mostly water resistant. Sweat and body oils can accumulate, so after every session , surfaces should be wiped down.
